About Me

My mission is not to change your writing voice, but to make it the best it can be.
I provide manuscript evaluation, work in progress coaching, and revision help for novelists, memoir writers, and writers of topical nonfiction. I have special interest in: Appalachia, Texas, the modern South, living with anxiety or OCD, mother-daughter relationships, women's friendships, aging parents, teaching adult non-readers and GED students, working in non-profit settings, and needle arts. I prefer not to work with projects that include suicide, horror, erotica, or excess violence. A journalism and English graduate of Baylor University, I have published in the Journal of Kentucky Studies, the Southern Humanities Review, the Chattahoochee Review, the Concho River Review, and other journals. I've worked in public relations, adult education, public school, non-profit agencies, and served as program coordinator for the Blue Ridge Writers’ Conference. Leading workshops and classes for the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association, the John C. Campbell Folk School, the Dahlonega Literary Festival, the Red Clay Writers’ Conference, the North Carolina Writers’ Network, and others has given me a strong sense of the insights and guidance writers need.
I love working with writers, and I look forward to reading your work.
